Is iPhone 13 Really A Game Changer?

Is iPhone 13 Really A Game Changer

At Apple’s recent September event, a revamped design with new features of the new iPhone 13 line was unveiled. New models include the 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max and 13 Pro. A new A15 Bionic processor, a smaller notch, a larger battery, and an array of new camera features will power the new iOS 15 phones. In addition to pink, blue, midnight (black), starlight (white), and product red, the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini are available in five colors. Also on the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, there will be an upgraded camera, a 120Hz display, and a new camera.

Here is our first take on Apples’s iPhone 13 lineup, as well as answers to all your questions about its specs, features, design, price, and where you can buy them. You can also get all the details about iOS 15 and how Apple might host an event in October.

How many iPhone 13 models are there?

Apple is releasing four phones with its iPhone 13, as it did with the iPhone 12. In addition to differences in size, price, storage options, and other important specifications, the iPhone 13 series also includes iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13 Pro. Each of the iPhone 13 phones has been compared in an apples-to-apples fashion to give you the full picture.

How much will the iPhone 13 cost, and how much storage does it have?

You can purchase the iPhone 13 through a carrier or unlocked, which depends on the variant you choose, the amount of storage you choose, and which carrier you choose. Here are all the details on iPhone 13’s pricing and preorders.

It costs $829 (£779, AU$1,349) for 128GB without a carrier discount, which is twice as much memory as the base iPhone 12 model. A similar 128GB model for $729 (£679, AU$1,199) is also available. In the same way as the iPhone 12, you’ll receive a $30 discount if you buy the iPhone 13 or 13 Mini from a US carrier.

It costs $999 (£949, AU$1,699) and $1,099 (£1,049, AU$1,849) for 128GB of storage on the iPhone 13 Pro. iPhone users now have the option of getting 1TB of storage. Its price of $1,599 is pushed up to $1,699 due to the extra storage available only on the Pro model. We’ve figured out what it will cost (without a discount from the carrier) and how much storage it will require.

What colors does the iPhone 13 come in?

New colors included in the iPhone 13 lineup include a pink hue and Sierra blue. Another design tweak included in Apple’s new flagship phone is a smaller notch.

What is the iPhone 13’s screen size?

iPhone 13's screen size

There are some similarities between the new iPhone 13 lineup and its predecessors, but that’s where the similarities end. If you choose one of the four Pro models, you’ll receive a few additional benefits along with brighter screens and smaller notches.

A 5.4-inch OLED display measuring 2,340 by 1,080 pixels makes up the smallest iPhone 13 mini in this set. The iPhone 13’s display is 6.1-inches, 2,532-by-1,170 pixels. For each model, the maximum brightness is 800 nits, with a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits for HDR content.

Although the iPhone 13 Pro’s display is the same size as the less expensive iPhone 13, it’s the least expensive model with Apple’s ProMotion technology. ProMotion offers a variable refresh rate that dynamically adjusts between 10Hz and 120Hz. Maximum brightness is jacked up to 1,000 nits on the iPhone 13 Pro’s display and HDR content maxes out at 1,200 nits.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a massive 6.7-inch, 2,778-by-1,284 OLED display that’s great for streaming video or gaming. It’s just as bright as the less expensive iPhone 13 Pro and has ProMotion as well.

People who use their phones to stream video or do basic tasks should find the iPhone 13 more than capable. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is probably worth the splurge for gamers and creative professionals.

Does the iPhone 13 Pro have a 120Hz refresh rate?

There is now a 120Hz refresh rate on both Pro models, making animations and scrolling more smooth. No matter how expensive the phone is, Android phones typically feature high refresh rates. There is currently only one Apple device offering such a refresh rate, the iPad Pro, which uses an LCD instead of the OLED of the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.

How long does the iPhone 13 battery last?

iPhone 13 battery backup

Most people are likely to welcome the iPhone 13’s larger battery as the most welcome feature. The iPhone 13 offers 2.5 hours more battery life than the iPhone 12 (compared to iOS 15). Apple did not share the size of the battery but said it would be paired with the A15 chip and improved display.
There should be 1.5 hours more battery life on the iPhone 13 Mini than the iPhone 12 Mini.
Compared to the iPhone 12 Mini, that’s a significant increase. In less than a year, the new Mini has received such a big boost.

The 13 Pro Max should also get an extra 1.5 hours of battery life as well. Apple says the Pro models should get a similar increase in battery life.

How many cameras does the iPhone 13 have?

With the new diagonal orientation of the two rear cameras, it is evident that the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini have an updated camera system. Rather, Apple says rearranging the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a result of getting better space for a new sensor-based stabilization system. (The cameras are vertically stacked on the iPhone 12.)

With the new models, the main camera gets a 12-megapixel upgrade and the ultrawide lens and sensor get an upgrade. Together with the new A15 Bionic chip, the new hardware means a handful of improvements and new features, including the capture of 47% more light.

In addition to the three cameras on the iPhone 13 Pro, the lenses and sensors have been upgraded. Three times as long as the telephoto lens on the iPhone 12 Pro, and two times longer than the telephoto lens on the 12 Pro Max, is the optical zoom on the telephoto lens on the iPhone 12 Pro. Below you will find a list of the various telephoto lenses available for the iPhone 13 and 12.

What’s still missing from the iPhone 13

All of this does not mean ignoring the fact that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have more features. In terms of features, the most lacking feature is the ProMotion display that scales the refresh rate of the iPhone 13 Pro from 10Hz to 120Hz based on what you are doing on screen.

There’s some speculation that Apple’s display supplier couldn’t provide enough ProMotion panels to meet demands for those two phones, which would explain why this feature was left off of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini.

Apple left the LiDAR sensors off the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro with much fanfare a year ago, a strange omission if you consider Apple’s stated interest in immersive augmented reality. (LiDAR can radically improve AR performance.)

Furthermore, the iPhone 13 Pros have telephoto lenses that provide 3x optical zoom. Macro photography is also possible with Pros’ ultra-wide lenses.

Verdict

How should you choose an iPhone 13? No matter which model consumers choose, I believe the iPhone 13 will be a good choice for them most of the time. It offers a great combination of power, features, and battery life for the price. If you want a large display and powerful GPU, you will probably want the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 Pro is our best bet for those who are creative professionals. In the weeks to come, we will put them to the test for our final review.
